Shri Arvindbhai Maniar Jankalyan Trust was established on 15th October, 1983 in the memory of late Shri Arvindbhai Maniar to fullfil his vision to cater the need of the economically weaker section of the society and expand the activity in the field of education and cultural evolution.

Shri Arvindbhai Maniar was born on 5th October, 1933 in a well known family of leading advocare of that time, Shri Ratibhai Maniar.After completion of graduation in science stream,he completed L.L.B and started his carreer as a tax consultant and became a leading tax consultant of the city. He married Hansikaben, hailing from the respected and philanthrophist family of Shri Mansang Mangalji Mehta of Jamnagar on 20th January , 1959 He was a Swayamsevak of R.S.S. from his childhood and R.S.S. carved a profound impression of patriotsm and duty towards the society on his personality.He observed that cooperative banking needs improvement for which hestudied the cooperative banking,in depth and entered in that field and was elected as a Director of Rajkot Nagrik Sahkar Bank ,iinitially and his skill to handle the banks working and administrative ability made him The Chairman of the bank in 1969 and during his tenture as a Chairman,bank progressed tremendously and made the bank very popular in the public of Rajkor and cooperative banking field of the state.

In 1975, people of Rajkot made him the first elected Mayor of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, He streamlined the working of the Corporation, increased the revenue of the corporation and made the Rajkot city, a neat , clean and beautiful city with tremendous civic facalities, attracting the attension of other civic badies of Gujarat.

He was eleced as a member of State Legislative Assembly of Gujarat State in 1977 as a member of Jan Sangh from Rajkot constituency,and proved his ability as a very good orator, presenred and solved successfully the problem of the public and discussed the legistative matter with due depth of the knowledge on the subject in the assembly. He was very popular among all the other member of assembly due to his wit and humourous nature.

He was very active in the working of his party JanSangh at local as well as state level and was very popular among top leader of the party as well as grassroot lavel worker.He was one of the pioneer leader of the state to put his party J ansangh on sound footing.

Unfortunately he died in a road car accident on 7th September 1983, while he was returning from Ahemedabad at late night,after attending the crucial meeting of the party.

He was a very good administrator, organiser and man of vision.It was his desire and dream to make the Rajkot city neat , clean and most beautiful city on the map of the nation.It was his vision to uplift the economically weaker section of society and make them available basic civic amenities.

To fullfil his vision and dream in the field of cooperative banking, IT education, healthcare facility for the needy,housing facility for the poor,cultural and social activity etc.people of Rajkot city established the Shri Arvindbhai Maniar Jankalyan Trust in the memory of his own noble leader.
